Description
Offeredfor your consideration is this ultra rare trophy tankard or beer stein from Yale University in 1895. It is a 1st prize trophy for a 2 mile bicycle race on April 24th, 1895. I think the Y. A.A. stands for Yale Alumni Association. It was won by Ebenezer Hill Jr. and he probably chugged a few tankards of beer after the race, which would have been quite a chore on a bicycle of the day. The engraving is artistically fantastic! It seems to be made of pewter with a glass bottom. It has great patina! I just wiped this with a damp cloth and nothing else. It measures 4 1/2” in diameter on the bottom, 3 1/2” on top, 6 1/2” tall, and weighs 1 lb 10 oz.
This would make a great addition to your bicycle trophy collection, or Yale collectables
Offered at no reserve.
