THIS LOT HAS AN ANTIQUE FLASK, OR AT LEAST I BELIEVE IT'S A FLASK.  IT COULD BE A VASE, BUT WITH THE INSCRIPTION ON IT, I DOUBT IT.  THE CAP IS MISSING, UNFORTUNATELY, BUT THE MERE EXISTENCE OF THE FLASK IS PRETTY REMARKABLE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.
ABOVE THE 'BULL' ON ONE SIDE, IT'S MARKED (IN CURSIVE) "F.H.KILGORE, SEPT. 15' 1892" (WITH AN APOSTROPHE AFTER THE '15' (AS SHOWN IN THE QUOTES), AND NOT WITH A COMMA.  I'M SURE I'VE SEEN THAT BEFORE, BUT I DON'T RECALL IT.
ANYWAY, THE SCENE BELOW IT HAS A LARGE BULL WITH HIS TAIL UP, AND HIS HEAD DOWN.  HE HAS APPARENTLY JUST GORED A 'CIVILIAN' (IN A ROMAN TOGA), TO HIS DEATH.  TO THE LEFT OF THAT, THERE IS A MAN STANDING (ALSO WITH A TOGA ON), AND WITH A ROMAN SOLDIER ON ONE KNEE, NEXT TO THE STANDING FELLA.
JUST TO THE RIGHT OF THE BULL (AND DEAD GUY) IS A HORSE'S FEET, RARING UP (STANDING ON HIS TWO BACK LEGS), AND SITTING ON THE HORSE IS ANOTHER SOLDIER WITH A SPEAR IN HIS RAISED HAND, READY TO KILL THE BULL (THESE TWO ARE PRIMARILY ON THE SHORT SIDE OF THE FLASK).  BEHIND THESE TWO (TO THE RIGHT, NOW ON THE OTHER LONG SIDE), IS ANOTHER STANDING SOLDIER.
OK, SO TRY TO FIND THIS... THERE IS A 'LEG' (ONLY) ON THE OTHER 'SHORT' SIDE.  YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE A ROMAN FOOT, WITH THE HIGH LEATHER STRAPS COMING UP FROM THE SANDAL.  THE LEG PRETTY MUCH STOPS AT THE BELT LINE, BUT THIS IS THE OUTSIDE OF A RIGHT LEG, AND THAT LEG SHOWS PART OF A SOLDIER'S UNIFORM (THE 'DRAPES' PART), AND I'M PRETTY SURE I CAN SEE A SHORT SHEATH, FOR ONE OF THEIR SHORTER FIGHTING SWORDS.  THAT'S ALL...
THE DETAILS ON THE GROUND, THE TREES (INCLUDING ONE TRUNK) AND THE WONDERFULLY DETAILED LEAVES, ROUNDS OUT THE ARTISTRY OF THE PIECE.  I'VE SIMPLY NEVER SEEN ANYTHING QUITE LIKE IT.
IT'S APPROX. 4 3/8" TALL X 3 5/8" WIDE X 1 5/8" DEEP.  IT'S IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, GIVEN ITS AGE AND PROBABLE USE, AND WEIGHS 218.30 GRAMS.
PLEASE NOTE:  SOMEONE (NOT ME) APPARENTLY DID A SMALL ACID TEST, RIGHT ON THE DEAD CENTER OF THE BOTTOM, WHICH SHOWS UP ON THE PHOTO OF THAT AREA.  IT HAS A SMALL, ROUND-ISH AREA, WHERE THE PLATING HAS BURNED THRU TO THE BASE METAL (WHICH IS SOMETHING LIKE PEWTER (OR "POT METAL"), BUT NOT BRASS.  IN OTHER WORDS, THE BASE METAL IS GRAY, SIMILAR TO THE DARKENED "NIELLO" LIKE PATINA.
THE PICTURES ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS PART OF THE DESCRIPTION
