Velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens), itchless cultivar seeds

Description

This medicinal bean is not only healthy for humans, the plant produces its own nitrogen, and the root system may benefit other nearby plants.
Scientific studies of Mucuna show it is effective for diabetes, spasms, inflammation, infertility, pain, growth hormone deficiencies and as an aphrodisiac.
Most cultivars of this species have pods covered with irritating or "stinging" hairs. This variety is only covered with a soft, velvety, black fuzz.
The growth habit of velvet bean is climbing, so you will need to provide a fence or trellis to support the plant as it grows.
During the growing season, the vines produce pendant clusters of purple flowers (2nd photo). The dried pods turn black when they are ready to harvest (3rd photo).
