  • Condition: Originally a lamp, wiring was removed. Good condition but there is a crack in the crane's leg, hard to notice but please view all pictures. Also note one arm seems to be bent up slightly.

    Description

    This is a unique and striking candelabra standing over 2 feet tall! It features a crane standing on a turtle which are symbols of longevity in Asian culture. It was originally a lamp and I am not sure if it it an original or a reproduction piece. It is reportedly made of bronze and is quite heavy weighing about 7 pounds and 3 ounces. It stands 25 3/4" (without candles, taller with) and it's about 7 3/4" across the base. The previous owner had removed the wiring. The candle sockets have holes so it could be converted back to a lamp.  It's in overall good condition and looks beautiful displayed but there are TWO IMPORTANT things to point out- the crane has a small break on one leg. Please refer to pic 5 where there is a blue arrow pointing to the spot. This could possibly be repaired but honestly it is not noticeable so unless you plan to resell this, I don't think it's an issue. As a display piece, it's hardly noticeable unless looking for it. The second flaw is one of the 5 arms seems to angle up just slightly more than the other so the candle cup doesn't look completely symmetrical with the others. The small candles I will include manage to hide this fairly well since you can angle the candle in the holder so it looks straight with the others. You will still be able to see that one holder is slightly tilted though (see pic 6).
    This probably was repainted at some point. The gold is in overall great shape though down near one of the gargoyle type feet, it looks a bit darker as if the paint may have worn more here (see pic 8)
    Again, overall, a really striking piece due to it's height and the really interesting ornate detailing.
