Description: Stanley Szwarc Steel Jewelry / Table Box, Signed.  Beautiful Hand Made Industrial Steel w/ applied textured & pierced geometric designs. Signed  Stanley Szwarc & dated January 18, 2003.  Weight 6.75 pounds
Stanley Szwarc (1928 -2011) made his art later in life beginning in the 1980's after coming to Chicago from his native Poland in 1977. In September 2006 he was honored by the Folk Art Society of America with their Award of Distinction. His work was carried by Intuit: The Center for Outsider and Intuitive Art. Every box or vase he made was unique, repeating various themes but never making the same piece twice. Constructed from scrap stainless steel, the pieces are quite heavy which accounts for some of their appeal by those who love his work. There are several very good sites that give more info on Stanley if you care to research. His works are in many public and private collections. Shortly before his death he was featured in the exhibition Steel & Stone at the Brickton Art Center in Park Ridge, Illinois and his crosses were represented in the exhibition Crossroads: Spirituality in American Folk Traditions at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, Owensboro, Kentucky.
Measures Approx., 11"x6.25"x4.5"h
Condition: Great Condition with surface marks consistent with some display use and wear. Very light oxidation and light scratches to the steel.
