Stunning Large Antique French Iron Coat/Hat Hook Signed C F in Anchor, 8½” High
This is a paticularly large and handsome iron coat or hat hook with nice, crisp detail. It is 8½ inches tall and very hefty. It protrudes 5 1/2 inches from the wall.
On the back it is marked “déposé,” which is the French word indicating the pattern was registered. It has a maker’s mark, C F in an anchor. I have found one other item with this mark but have not been able to ascertain the name of the maker.
I would date this piece to about 1900. It has an Arts & Crafts look.
This piece would make a strong srtastement in your entryway or foyer.
