Silver Runner's-up Medal 1926 LTA British Tennis Championships Boys' SinglesDescription
A silver runner's-up medal for boys' singles, in its original case, from the 1926 LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) Junior Championships of Great Britain. The identity of the recipient of this medal is not known. I would say that it was in upwards of extremely fine (EF) condition, with the polished background surface still retaining much of its original mint sheen, but also with an attractive bluish patina on the obverse side. Please take a close look at my photographs and form your own opinion of its grade. The case is a little faded, but otherwise in good condition.
Made from Hallmarked Silver, Diameter 33 mm, Weight 15.8 grams, Medallists Fattorini & Sons.
The obverse design shows the initials "LTA" in the centre, surrounded by the emblems of England, Scotland and Wales - respectively a rose, thistle and daffodil
. Together these form a clover-leaf pattern. The reverse has the legend "THE JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS OF GREAT BRITAIN" around a plain central area, on which is inscribed "BOYS' / SINGLES / 1926 / RUNNER-UP". This area is hallmarked at the base.
I have not succeeded in finding any information about the 1926 LTA Junior Championships online.
