The Auction:
This is a
SPECIAL
set of 12 stamps FVF and
MNH
, and contains self-adhesive coil singles issued between 1989 and 1995. They were generally only available through Stamp Fulfillment Services in
KC, Missouri
and a few test locations.
These are the coils that Bookman lists with the letter "v" so
2431v, 2489v, 2490v
etc.  Scott does not use the letter v and the coils actually have the same Scott catalogue number as the pane stamps.
You should notice the backing paper is larger than the stamps as
needed in Lighthouse
and other albums. They were arranged in coil format with spaces between them to be affixed to First Day Covers. This set does not include any stamps with a plate number and
KC setenants are sold separately
. The face value is .50
The liners read "
DO NOT WET * SELF ADHESIVE
" Once removed from their backing paper, the stamps are virtually indistinguishable from booklet stamps. All stamps in this set will have full original liners, but the orientation of the writing may vary according to their printing.
Why does the backing paper have different sizes?
Some are close together
With
2598
expect the side margins to be only 1-2 mm on either side
Some were printed wide apart
With
2813
expect the side margins to be as much as 5-6 mm on either side
Some are coiled vertically
These should have about 2 mm top and bottom and wider on the sides.
Some were printed horizontally
Stamps like this should have 4-5 mm on either side.  Keep in mind that we can't list every measurement spacing and type here.
Rest assured that all of our  stamps will have appropriate margins that are approximately half the distance from the next stamp.
We consider uneven, crooked, or short-cropped backing paper to be a damaged stamp and we never sell them in our special sets.
We use a precision cutter for sharp right angle corners. Our stamps are never scissor cut, which leaves them uneven and damaged
