Diestruck Silver Metal French Ornaments or Decorations
This is an absolutely stunning original antique heavy green sample card measuring 9-⅝ x 12-½ inches (24.5 x 31.5 cm) which displays 9 actual examples of superbly crafted antique silver trim pieces manufactured in France 100+ years ago, probably for use in trimming things like purses, belts, jewelry, accessories, etc.  They are truly superb examples of the die maker’s art, die-struck from what appears to be German silver (also called nickel silver - but has no silver content) or possibly silver plated brass (although we can’t see brass anywhere).  The filigree pieces were given an artistic silver satin finish.  Each piece is a treasure.
Our photo directly above shows a close-up of item 1531 on this card which is a frame measuring 2-¾ x 3-½ inches with an open center.  The frame is beautifully engraved with wild irises, water lilies and a dragonfly.  Others have lilies of the valley, dragonfly, flowers, ribbons, etc.  The pieces 534ter and 534 are the same except that there is a background in 534 and 534ter has the background removed.
This sample card is hand numbered with numbers between 534 and 1594 and the work on it was produced by an artist working for the firm H. Dupré at 17 Rue des Vertus in Paris a long time ago.   We spent many years in the die making business at one time but have never seen better work taken from a steel die than these authentic French pieces which we purchased decades ago from an antique dealer in Paris, France.
This card is one of a series of cards depicting products of the Dupré company.  This card has 9 big samples tied to it with linen string  The card with its nine samples could easily be framed for display as-is or the samples could be removed and sold or used individually.  We are unable to over-describe the quality of this work.  It is truly amazing.
