  • Condition: Fair-Good overall vint cond: Offered is this recently discovr'd on the North Shore of MA, antique Roycroft, sgnd early 20th c American Arts & Crafts, hand-tooled, hammered & chisel figured, bulbous, concave faced copper metal letter opener. It's clearly sgnd in the middle of the facia w/a Roycroft maker's mark stmpd into the copper. It's estate fresh & new to the marketplace, having been found in southern NH, just north of the MA North Shore estate it was removed from. It would be in truly exceptional cond, less for the slightly disfigured end of the copper letter opener, w/evidence it was unfortunately prev used to most likely open a lidded can, as the tapered, narrow end of the letter opener now suffers from some waves. This cond isn't fatal & isn't readily noticeable but nevertheless exists. The pc still has its orig copper metal patina & wonderfully artisan tooled, hand scalloped surfaces, w/the facia resembling carved wood. It hasn't been chem cleaned or polished. Still terrific.

    It's clearly signed in the middle of the facia with a
    Roycroft
    maker's mark stamped into the copper. It's estate fresh and new to the marketplace, having been found in
    southern New Hampshire,
    just north of the
    Massachusetts' North Shore
    estate it was removed from. It would be in truly exceptional, very well-preserved antique condition, less for the slightly disfigured end of the copper letter opener, with evidence it was unfortunately at some point in time, previously used to most likely open a lidded can, as the tapered, narrow end of the letter opener now suffers from some waviness. This condition isn't fatal and isn't readily noticeable but nevertheless exists. The piece still has its original copper metal patina and wonderfully artisan tooled, hand scalloped surfaces, with the facia resembling carved wood. It hasn't been chemically cleaned or polished. It doesn't suffer from any noticeable surface abrasions, nicks, scuffs, flat spots or edge flea-bites. From the venerated
