Persian Persepolis Bas Relief
You see these on here, and there are a few types. 15 3/4" diameter. So nice, it sits in my front room on a tabletop easel, on my old sideboard. This one is an alloy of some type, heavy ( 2 lb 5 oz) - probably a mostly, or all, copper alloy that's tinned, and has gilt highlighting applied to some areas. These are handmade, hammered, pressed, etched, etc., in what's now called Isfahan, Iran (was then Persia); they call this art ghalamzani. This one depicts an Achaemenid Dynasty ruler (Cyrus the Great, Xerxes, Darius., etc.), during the Zoroastrian era, so it's not an Islamic item, and also depicts being served wine. A bit of an unusual design for these. Not all of these are vintage or antique - given the design, and the feel, this is probably an older one, anywhere from 90-150 years old. Appears to be adopted from a Persepolis bas-relief of Armenians, or other tributaries, bringing wine to the Persian ruler. This is a really nifty item.
