Four Winds Collection is proud to offer the following bronze casting after Pierre Jules Mene of "Cheval a la Barriere (Djinn)" AKA "Barbary Stallion (Djinn)".
We beleive this piece was produced late 1880-1890's time frame after Mene died during the time his son-in-laws (Auguste Cain) who produced the Mene bronzes (sculptures).  After Cain died the Susse Foundry purchased P. J. Mene molds and produced this bronze with Susse Foundry mark.
This piece does not have the Susse Foundry mark.
This is not a casting from 1849 time frame which was exhibited at the Salon.
I have included a number of images and show the bottom. The bronze is in very good to excellent condition. There is a crack in one fence piece which we do not know if that is damage or was done to represent an older fence. The branch on the ground under the front legs also shows a break in the branch. Both locations do not look like damage.
I have not seen a real early 1849 casting to compare, however I do have a current high quality reproduction of the same piece and this one has significantly more detail then the reproduction.".
This Mene piece is also known as Horse by Fence bronze sculpture.
This piece does not have any foundry mark..
I have included a number of images. The bronze is in very good
    to excellent condition.
This is currently from my own collection.
I am offering free shipping within the lower 48 states. Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska are extra. Buyer to cover shipping cost.
