Description
This evocative old engraved English hipflask is engraved with flowers, leaves and ribbons in addition to a great old entwined monogram that I am at pains to decipher. I believe it to have started out as silver plate (probably Old Sheffield Plate) over pewter or some other base metal but it currently has a fantastic old patina that looks like old unpolished silver. It is missing its lid and its plating in a few areas but has no notable dents, holes or other imperfections. It is 5.5" x 3" x 1.25" thick. I believe This piece might date to the late Georgian or early Victorian Period c. 1835-40.Stock number SA2B-115
