    Description

    This is a vintage commemorative BRONZE MEDAL of JOHN PAUL JONES (1747-1792), an AMERICAN NAVY HERO in the REVOLUTIONARY WAR This BRONZE MEDAL is in overall excellent, used condition, with a nice rich patina. There are two very very tiny surface imperfections seen in the ear and over the epaulet. The medal is approximately 2 3/16" (56 mm) in diameter, and weighs approximately 98.4 grams. The medal is signed by the artist Dupre.F. under the left shoulder (front view) and along the bottom (rear view). The edge of the medal is inscribed W. MICHAEL BODDEN CDR (SC) USNR 8 MAY 53- 31 AUG 75, as a PRESENTATION AWARD FOR 22 YEARS SERVICE as a COMMANDER in the UNITED STATES NAVAL RESERVE. This BRONZE MEDAL is from the COMITIA AMERICANA series of medals made to commemorate significant victories during the REVOLUTIONARY WAR.
