Description
Incredible survivor of early Detroit hotel history! This vintage
toothpick holder
from the
Berghoff Hotel in Detroit
is unbelievably scarce!
The Berghoff Hotel
occupied this building from
1909 through 1917
,with the Berghoff Cafe on the ground floor. The Tuxedo Hotel & Grille Company, which operated the Frontenac Restaurant on the first story, took over the building in 1918. The building itself was erected in 1859, and unfortunately, the City of Detroit tore down this incredible historical gem in 1989. Notice the photos of the hotel in its 1909-1917 heyday, as well as the building in 1989 shortly before it was torn down. The Berghoff Hotel opened and closed years before the opening of the luxurious Book Cadillac Hotel, which opened in 1924.
This incredibly scarce glassware toothpick holder measures approximately 2 1/4" tall and 2 1/4" inches wide, and has a Ruby Stain Shamrock style, also called Flowered Arches. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, with very slight ruby loss. Awesome condition considering its 100+ years.
Paypal only, with payment within one day of purchase. Photos of the actual hotel are not part of the sale. See all pictures carefully as to condition of the glassware.
Incredible historical relic from Detroit's past
