Description
This pewter tea pot is in very good condition for its age, no dents or bumps, no scratches to mar the patina, no breakage or repairs. It is impressed on the bottom with maker name, Kitching & Co. The tip of of the spout has been slightly distorted due to its thin and pliable nature, but not bad, and it can easily be modified if one chose. The engraving on both sides of leaves add interest and value. The enameled wood fittings of handle and knob are secure, though the handle has a slightly loose back and forth, but still quite secure. It measures approx 11 3/4" handle to tip of spout x 7 3/4" H at handle and 5 1/2" W. The weight is approx. 2 ob and 2 oz. There is tiny minimal loss to the black lacquer after probably after 180 years or more. The feet have not been abused, no bending or puncturing the body of the vessel. The spout and base of handle have a molded acanthus leaf design. You see in the last photo that the bottom has one small pit, and the impressed name of Kitching & Co.
