    Description

Bose alto smart glasses. For Parts Only.
You are bidding on a pair of Bose Alto frames
The problem is the hinge. I posted a solution found on Reddit below. Basically, they work when the frame is closed or opens to about 45%, then the light goes off. You can see the light on in the photos, then when opened all the way, it’s off…They come in a refurbished box, but were bought new. Any questions , feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking, and good luck…
Hi! I have just bought a pair of used Bose Frames Alto, and lucky me they died after a few hours of using them (of course I have no warranty at all (I'm from Argentina and Bose denied the warranty completely since the product is not sold in my country) and I can't return them, because they were working when I got them (I tested them in front of the guy that sold them to me).
They won't charge and wont turn on (LED blinks briefly but nothing happens). After doing further investigation, I see it's a common problem with Frames, and apparently the problem is that the FPC cable that connects the battery and left speaker with the Frames (Celine?) board (that is on the right temple) gets broken where the golden hinge is on the right temple. I grabbed my trusty phone repair kit, removed the two screws that hold the right temple to the golden hinge and indeed the flex cable was broken.
Since i'm not going to throw 0 to the trash I'm thinking about fixing them myself and maybe that helps others (brave enough to do the fix).
I saw on the only teardown video on YouTube (I know its the Rondo the ones that they disassemble, but I believe the Alto to be exactly the same inside) that on the left temple is the Battery which has three pins (positive, negative and... temperature?) and then the speaker has two more pins (positive and negative) soldered to this flex cable that goes from one temple (going through the frames) to the other temple, where it connects to the controller board via a FPC connector.
I was thinking about soldering new cables to the solder points on the left temple, then doing a small hole or cutout near the hinge where I would get these five cables out and through the Frames (on the outside part, since I believe the frame itself is one piece. I know this might not be the cleanest solution, but is the only I can think of now) and then see where I can connect them on the board to "bypass" the flex cable.
I wanted to ask if someone has disassembled their frames, if by any chance has some pictures of the board and the FPC connector itself. And some recommendations on how to disassemble the "covers" that are on the temples (I know by the video I have linked they are glued, but sadly they don't show the "actual" disassembly).
Also if someone is interested in this little project and want to help, any kind of knowledge can be really helpful.
