Augusto Rivalta (Italian, 1838–1925) "Hercules and the Centaur" Antique Bronze
RIVALTA, AUGUSTO born in Alexandria, Egypt of Italian, he died in Florence on April 14, 1925. He studied in Genoa and Florence and became professor of sculpture at the Florence Academy in 1870 and became the outstanding Italian sculptors of the late 19th century. He exhibited widely at home and abroad and won silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. He produced classical figures and groups -fauns, centaurs, nymphs, heroes and deities, mostly in bronze. Examples are in the museums of Berlin, Bucharest and Florence.
Condition: Very good condition.
