    Description

Early Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces gilded bronze, enamel and glass centerpiece tazza compote measuring 6 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" wide. It is pattern 401 which is a fine Art Nouveau pattern that is heavily enameled. While in perfect condition there are some tarnish spots to the gilding that I haven't tried to clean. Some idiot either unscrewed or started to unscrew the stem from the base which means the threaded stem cap UNDER the glass came off the top of the stem and shifted under the glass slightly. The cap seems to be well lodged in there and isn't in danger of rattling around and breaking the glass center. This is a hard to find earlier piece of Tiffany. I'm sure the right Tiffany expert could get this apart and get the stem cap placed properly again. No damage to the enamel that I could see. Picture 10 shows a leaf in the 5 o'clock position with an oddly brown enamel filling. As the enamel is variegated I believe this is still original enamel that doesn't have any green in it. There are several light scratches under the glass that go all ways that I believe are in the making or design. You could be mistaken for thinking one of those-see last picture-is a crack. It is not a crack.
