    Description

    Collectible 19th century Meriden Britannia Co. quadruple plate engraved hip flask with telescoping lid cup c. 1897.  Flask features a and etched couple on one side with the verse 'Gin a body meet a body Comin 'thro' the rye' on one side and engravd COL. C A 1897 on the other, marked tithe the Meriden Britannia Co. maker's mark on interior cup/lid. Measures 6 1/2" long x 3 5/8" wide x 1 1/4" deep and is in very good antique condition, does show denting and scratching from use and in need of polishing.
    "Comin' Thro' the Rye" is a famous poem written in 1782 by Robert Burns (1759–1796).
