Description

Antique circa 1920's silver soldered teapot from the Massasoit Hotel, Narragansett, RI.  5 1/2" tall.  Holds about 12-14 oz.  Made by Wallace & Sons.  The teapot has a smooth mirrored surface and is lighter gauge silver soldered.  A little more elegant than most heavier silver soldered hotel pieces.
Good condition.  There are a couple of tiny surface dings as seen in the photos.  Unusual to find a serving piece from The Massasoit Hotel.  Nice piece for your collection!
The Massasoit Hotel was located on Mathewson Street and began operating in 1877 by proprietor John Babcock.  The building had originally been built in 1870 on Narragansett avenue for Edward Tucker, and was operated as The Maxson House.  The Maxson House was not successful, and a bank took ownership of the hotel and moved it to Mathewson Street.  At that point it was renamed as The Massasoit.
