Description
Lovely mid 19th century Victorian era cruet set by John Gallimore & Sons features six cut glass pieces; three decanters with stoppers, a salt shaker, a pepper shaker, and a sugar jar with a sterling silver demitasse spoon. All six glass pieces are original to the set, the spoon was obviously added later sometime during the Art Deco period. The EPNS frame sits on threaded removable ball feet. The handle is decorated with a small ball nestled between the wire handle as well at the top, and there are small spherical finials at the top of each corner. There is a badge shaped plaque on the front and back of the frame. The front plaque is monogrammed with the letter T in a script font. The set is in beautiful condition with only normal pitting in some areas of the metal commensurate with age. Overall, it's wonderful. No chips or cracks in any of the glass, including the stoppers. Truly a fantastic piece. The bottom is hallmarked with the JGS logo and EPNS in old English script. There is also a small pinwheel/flower hallmark and the number 0 on the bottom as well.
The overall height of the set is approx 8" and the overall width is approx 6".
The decanters stand approx 4.5" tall and the smaller pieces stand approx 3.5" tall.
All of the glass pieces measure approx 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" at the base.
The set weighs 1129.7 grams.
