I want to be very clear, this bike is not a museum piece. It was built for, and is ready to go, vintage racing. This bike has been completely gone through with new engine bearings within last two hours of run time. I have always run 98 leaded race fuel with HP2 oil, mixed at 24 to 1. The bike is ready to go racing immediately. I could literally throw some gas in it and race it this weekend, but it is time to thin the herd a little bit.
The bike is not perfect, but I truly don’t know of anything mechanically wrong with it at this time.
Here’s the things I don’t like (your mileage may vary)
It has a Sun rear rim that someone inexplicably painted black. Rim is fine, I don’t like the black paint
It has a twin air filter (like the picture above). Not a big deal in terms of filtering, but it does not have the original filter cage and filter combo.
The kickstart lever is floppy and does not stay closed. If you know these bikes, this is common, but I want to mention it.
Expansion chamber has pipe clamps to hold springs to engine. I guess the welds broke at some point. I bought bike this way and it works fine, but I wanted to mention it. (See picture).
I may add to this description as I think of more. Feel free to ask any questions. I will answer any questions honestly as I value my reputation in the VMX community.
