1912 GORHAM BRONZE PLAQUE - Francis W. Ayers - YMCA - Camden New Jersey Rutgers

A gorgeous, large, heavy 1912 Gorham bronze plaque from the Camden, New Jersey YMCA, commemorating Francis Wayland Ayer (1848-1923), the Camden YMCA's first President, and a prominent advertising pioneer whose home (I believe) is now part of the Rutgers campus. The plaque is Gorham bronze -- it's marked. (See photo.) In beautiful condition, with rich original patina. (Please note that the photos in this listing were taken a while ago just after I'd rinsed the plaque, and so you may notice some small wet/damp spots here and there.)
Face of Francis Wayland Ayer is in bas relief. Please see all photos to understand how this plaque was made. From bottom to highest point, this piece is 36" high. At its widest, it's 24.25" wide. The edges/rims measure 1.5".
Text on the front of the plaque: "In Grateful Recognition Of His Leadership And Benevolence And To Commemorate The Services Of FRANCIS WAYLAND AYER First President Of This Young Men's Christian Association His Associates On The Board Of Directors Have Placed This Tablet 1912". An important piece of New Jersey history.
Local pick-up is offered. Located just a few miles northwest of the Baltimore Beltway.
